I’ve been experimenting with Bluesky since the exodus from X began. It’s definitely better than X (what isn’t?), but I’m not 100% sold yet. In my brief time there so far, I’ve had numerous dubious looking accounts following me, requesting follows, personal details etc. Also, a lot of crap in a similar vain as for X (I guess not surprising if there’s a lot of ex-X users coming over). I feel like Mastodon is more “me”. I still think the biggest block to big take-up is difficulty in sign up, but maybe that’s not such a bad thing in that it’ll probably discourage spammers etc. Having said that, it’s also filtering users to that subset that can be bothered to go through the process. On balance, I still prefer that subset. I find Mastodon interesting, fun and informative. With Bluesky, I’m not so sure.
